  3. Just don't expect an instant success. It takes much time and training and the competition is hard. But never let it get you down.

  5. I think it's a better idea to just do it as a hobby first. Because with that, you'll know if you suck at it or not. :P

  6. The best photographers start off as hobbyists. Slowly build up your arsenal. Have you seen the price of lenses? My buddy, who does wedding photography, just bought a new lens. 10,000USD. YIKES!

  16. Weddings are the best way to get into the photography business. If you could "borrow" a camera for a day and make a couple hundred dollars and repeat that you could afford a Digital Rebel in no time. Otherwise I'd stick to film photography and transfer the prints to digital. Digital SLRs are so expensive compared to film SLRs. If I were a student, I'd band together with a group of other students and offer our services all at once for a highly discounted price. That way the client feels comfortable with the idea of, "well with so many amateurs shooting photos, at least one of them has got to get a good shot." I also knew a photographer who would bring an apprentice along to weddings to get extra shots off to help take the load off her shoulders. It didn't cost the client extra money, the main photographer was less stressed, and the apprentice was able to build up experience and a resume. By the way, professional photographers here make about $3000 USD per wedding. You could literally work one day a month and make a living that would support your family. I'm in the wrong business....
